IEQ Global, Singapore’s sole certified and authorized applicator and advocate of AerisGuard HVAC Performance Solutions has launched the AerisGuard: HVAC Performance Solutions by Aeris Environmental in Singapore.

The AerisGuard solution was introduced during an Exclusive Executive Seminar on 12 August 2008 organised by IEQ Global. The seminar titled, “A New Solution to Beat Rising Energy Costs and Stay Competitive in The Hospitality Business”, was aimed at educating professionals in the hospitality and building industry about reducing energy consumption and managing operating costs.

The speakers were leading experts in the field of energy saving and optimization and indoor environment quality industry. Speakers included: Mr Lee Eng Lock, General Manager, Energy Division, Singapore (Trane); Mr Alan Boswell, HVAC Performance Solutions Consultant (Aeris Environmental); Mr Seow Tin Hwee, Area Director of Engineering (Rasa Sentosa Resort); and Mr Jeffrey Tang, Managing Director (IEQ Global).

AerisGuard is based on revolutionary multi-enzyme biofilm removal solutions that are environmentally-friendly and can be applied onto HVAC system outdoor or indoor ventilation coils to both control, prevent and inhibit the growth of odour causing fungi, mildew, mould and bacteria on the coils. Left untreated, biofilm prevents effective heat exchange in the coils, which results in HVAC systems having to work much harder to keep indoor environments comfortably cool. In addition, AerisGuard can prevent further corrosion damage to the coils by the natural elements, which is important as damaged coils are ineffective and inefficient in heat exchange.

The extensive application of AerisGuard can enable HVAC systems to achieve excellent indoor environment quality for comfort and hygiene with energy use optimized, manageable operating costs and reduced maintenance effort.

The protection it provides also extends the lifespan of expensive HVAC equipment and components. Equally significant, Aeris Environmental has been named “Energy Service and Product Provider” for AerisGuard Air-Conditioning Performance Solution technology – an energy-efficient product that produces energy savings whilst protecting the environment.

“We are proud to be part of the Global environmental-sustainability initiative for businesses and to offer the industry’s first comprehensive solution to protect commercial building HVAC assets against mould, bacterial and fungal contamination,” said Mr Jeffrey Tang, Managing Director of IEQ Global. “The AerisGuard solution has been proven to reduce companies’ energy consumption and cost, leading to increased profitability, which is at the core of our belief to maintain the balance between environmental sustainability and business profitability.”

“As energy costs continue to increase over time, businesses need differentiators to save cost without compromising on quality of service,” said Mr Liew Kwong Chin, Business Development Director, Trane Southeast Asia Region. In Singapore, air conditioning is a requisite for businesses; yet HVAC operating costs to businesses can often be as high as 60 percent of total operating expenditure with Trane world class energy efficiency solutions at 0.6 kw/ton, AerisGuard can, in combination, help to sustain and further reduce the energy required to cool a building.

The AerisGuard solution enables hotels to optimize the performance of existing HVAC chilling equipment without the need to spend capital expenditure on new HVAC chiller replacements. The resulting benefits would be energy cost savings, optimal HVAC system performance, extended lifespan of HVAC assets, capital equipment savings, etc. From a Conservation perspective, it helps businesses to be environmentally friendly by reducing carbon footprint with reduced energy consumption.

The seminar was attended by more than 150 delegates, including senior officials from the Government bodies, property developers and owners, hotel management, M&E consultants and regional hotel chain operators.
